Here is the no-bake last-minute super-festive Christmas cookie idea that you need in your life. Bonus: it’s the perfect kitchen activity to do with your kids.
The return of the wafer cookie
For years, I forgot these wafer cookies existed. I stumbled upon them one day at the store and it was like a childhood memory was unlocked.
I remember when I was a kid, these cookies were a pantry staple… and for good reason. They are one of those childhood foods that are just as good now as I remembered them growing up.
You can’t go wrong with this dipped wafer cookie
If you’re wondering whether you should try these out or not… let me just list all of the ways I love them.
- they are no-bake (aka FAST and hardly any mess involved)
- kids can participate (holiday cookie decorating tradition checked off the list)
- sprinkles (I’m convinced everything is better with sprinkles)
And if those facts didn’t convince you, let me remind you that these cookies are made in a million different flavors. Yes, folks, you’ve got options. They have:
- vanilla
- strawberry
- chocolate
- candy cane (seasonal)
- chocolate mint (seasonal)
- eggnog (seasonal)
- orange creme
- banana
- chocolate & raspberry
- lemon
- key lime
- raspberry
- peanut butter
I mean, come on, I challenge you to find a better flavor list.
You can grab some white chocolate chips and chocolate chips and go wafer-dipping crazy.
A multitude of flavor combinations. A bountiful of tasty choices. A plethora of treat options.
Okay, you get it. These cookies are awesome. They are an underrated easily-forgotten cookie and that is why they make the PERFECT holiday party treat.
Now, run to the store and grab a box. The next time your future self is looking for a last minute dessert to bring to that holiday function you forgot about, you’ll be thanking your past self for snagging these from the store.
Ingredients
- Voortman Wafer Cookies in your favorite flavors
- White chocolate chips +/- chocolate chips
- Assorted Christmas sprinkles
- Parchment paper
Instructions
Melt chocolate chips in microwave safe bowls, stirring every 30 seconds or so, until melted and creamy.
Dip 1/2-2/3 of each wafer cookie in melted chocolate – or spread melted chocolate onto wafer cookie with a spoon – whichever you find easiest!
I promise, it doesn’t have to be perfect to look good, once you bust out the sprinkles.
Coat those cookies with all the hundreds of Christmas sprinkles you’ve been hoarding every year (whoops, bought another container this year).
Go crazy here, this is the best part!
Set the cookies out on parchment paper and let them harden up a little, a couple minutes or so.
